Motion to suspend the Senate Rules to take up HB 673 out of its regular calendar order to hear the bill. 5/21/99, p 2279 The motion passed 19-8.
YCT Nay. If this motion had failed, HB 673 would have effectively died on the floor of the Senate instead of becoming law. This bill relates to minors under the age of fifteen having to wear bicycle helmets and is an unnecessary interferance of individual liberties by government. Parents ought to be the ones responsible for a child’s safety instead of the government.
