Motion to suspend the Senate Rules to take up SB 614 out of its regular calendar order to hear the bill. 4/19/99 p. 1070 The motion to suspend the rules failed to receive a 2/3 majority of the Senate and therefore failed 18-10.
YCT Yea. SB 614 relates to tort reform and allowing juries to apportion responsibility to people who cannot feasibly be joined in a lawsuit. YCT believes in personal responsibility when an offense is committed that requires a lawsuit instead of suing a third party for damages. This will save the courts money and end many of the absurd pay-outs given by juries to the winners of frivolous lawsuits.
