Adoption. Amendment 33 by Giddings. RV 11, June 28, 2005, p 61 Amendment 33 failed 72 – 76 – 0.
YCT Nay. Under current law, public school trustees are not required to stand for election in November of even-numbered years, resulting in minute voter turnout in school trustee elections and the election of trustees who are not representative of the constituencies they serve. Amendment 33 would have removed language from the education bill requiring school trustees to be elected on the uniform Election Day in November of evennumbered years. YCT views the November election of trustees as one of the most critical education reforms.
