YCT Nay. Amendment 1 to House Bill 438 would have decreased the cap on appraisals of homestead properties from 10% per year to 5% per year. Property taxes in Texas have spiraled out of control, especially through the use of exuberant appraisals which allow local governments to receive more money without voting to raise taxes.
