YCT Nay. HB 1462 authorizes a state employee to be granted paid leave, not to exceed 5 hours each month, to participate in mandatory training or volunteer work for Court Appointed Special Advocates, a volunteer organization. Volunteer work is important and admirable, but Texas should not pay its state employees with our tax dollars to volunteer. Charity should be left up to individuals, not compelled upon taxpayers.
