YCT Nay. Amendment 113 prohibits the allocation of state funds for the purposes of funding a school voucher program. This amendment inhibits competition between public and private schools in addition to preventing lower income families from choosing to send their children to a better performing private school rather than being stuck in an underperforming public school. Parents should have the ability to choose the type of education their child receives rather than being forced to send their children where government decides. Opening up the education market by allowing parents this choice will empower citizens, expand competition between schools, and will ultimately lead to a higher quality education for kids.
