YCT Nay. Amendment 24 would have required the Racing commission, in reviewing a racetrack license, to subject the tracks to the state’s “Historically Underutilized Businesses” (HUB) program. The HUB program requires that certain state contracts go to businesses based on the race or gender of their owner. YCT opposes race-based affirmative action in all contexts and urges that it be done away with. Furthermore, state contracts should be awarded based on who provides the best deal, rather than wasting taxpayer money subsidizing less?efficient companies in the interest of “social justice.”
