YCT Nay on Motion to Table. Amendment 15 would have allowed a party whose property is taken through eminent domain but not actually used to repurchase the property at either the market rate or the rate at which the party was originally compensated, whichever is lower. It is fundamentally immoral to steal property from an individual, not use it for the stated purpose, and then require them to pay more than they were given to get it back if the market rate has gone up. Despite the failure of Amendment 15, YCT is pleased that many representatives reexamined this issue and corrected their stance on the issue through the use of journal statements.
