SB 1401 would create the Texas Mental Health Profession Pipeline Program by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, to give additional guidance for students going into the mental health profession. TCC said: "The notion that aspiring mental health professionals are not able to achieve professional success because they lack the guidance necessary to do so raises the question of whether they should be guiding and counseling those who are suffering from mental health issues in the first place." YCT opposes policies to incentivize students to get certain degrees or go into certain career-fields. (With the exception of a market-based policy incentivizing students to earn high-demand degrees in high-earning fields).
