Passage; April 16, 2009 Journal Page 1101: 22 Yeas, 9 Nays

YCT Nay. Early in the 81st Legislative Session, Governor Perry announced that he would reject $7 billion in federal “stimulus” funds that were intended for unemployment benefits. The funds had strings attached that would have forced the state to permanently expand our unemployment compensation system in ways Texans did not want. YCT supported the Governor in rejecting these funds. SB 1569 would have forced the Governor to accept the strings-attached unemployment compensation funds.
