YCT Nay. HB 397, which was vetoed by the Governor, would have created a bureau for economic development of the border region.  YCT opposes government measures aimed at “economic development” because they presume that government creates “economic growth” when, in fact, government only stifles economic creativity.   A bureau aimed at economic development in the border region would ultimately destroy economic development elsewhere in the state, through the consumption of tax revenue.
