YCT Nay.  SB 291 would have added alcohol awareness components to the required science curriculum in Texas public schools.  YCT believes that school districts should be free to set their own curriculum and are skeptical about the further inclusion of “awareness” components in required curriculum programs.  Schools should focus on providing science classes that actually teach science, rather than wasting students’ time with redundant “awareness” programs.
