YCT Nay. HB 217 would prohibit the sale of “sugary beverages” in public schools. YCT opposes limiting food choices for students, as a child’s dietary habits should be a decision for the child and their parents. Because this goes against our principles of personal liberty and free markets, we noted our opposition to this type of legislation on our legislative agenda. As such, YCT supports Governor Perry’s veto of this bill.
