Passage; April 16, 2013; Journal Page 917: 20 Yeas, 9 Nays
YCT Nay. SB 1340 would have extended temporary gaming licenses for racetracks from two to six years. YCT opposes expanding gambling because doing so would create a new stakeholder in government. The relationship between gambling entities and the government is dangerous to our society. Furthermore, gambling is justified by proponents as a way to “increase revenue.” YCT believes that government should live within its means, not seek out new forms of revenue to pay for unnecessary services.
