Passage; April 9, 2015; Journal Page 727; 28 Yeas, 3 Nays
YCT Nay. SB 359 allows physicians to initiate a
temporary, four-hour hold of a patient with mental illness who is judged to be
a danger to self or others only if the governing body of a facility adopts a
policy permitting the hold to allow necessary crisis psychiatric care. YCT
opposes legislation that gives preferential authorities to that of doctors,
over that of a parent, and especially legislation that infringes upon the 4th,
5th, and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
