Passage; April 26, 207; Journal Page 1292; 29 Yeas, 2 Nays

YCT Yea. SB 1566 returns control back to school boards, who are elected, rather than paid administrators. The major purpose of this bill is to have school boards require training on evaluating school performance. Additionally, it increases school boards' oversight on student performance. YCT believes that this is the right direction in improving our public education system. By giving more flexibility and power to elected officials rather than Texas Education Agency employees, more accountability is created.
