Passage; May 18th, 2017; Journal Page 2081; 27 Yeas, 4 Nays

YCT Yea. HB 1449 prohibits a political subdivision from imposing a fee on new construction for the purpose of offsetting the cost of residential housing. By creating a fee on new construction, the cost of new housing and other construction projects across Texas will increase the cost of living. YCT believes that by limiting burdensome regulations, the housing industry will be able to keep prices lower for residents through the free market rather than by offsetting costs for one particular group.
