YCT Nay. HB 2872 applies punitive taxes levied on traditional car rental companies to private citizens looking to rent out their property on a short term basis. This creates a system of double taxation where private citizens pay the initial sales taxes on their motor vehicles, unlike rental car companies, as well as a per-short term rental tax that would price the dynamic business model out of the market.
