YCT Yea. Senate Bill 18, Amendment 1 by Representative Cain, removes the ability of public universities from being able to disinvite speakers who have been invited by student organizations or faculty to speak on campus. Previously, speakers faced the risk of being disinvited to universities, if the university received pressure from activist groups if they felt a speaker's ideas were too controversial. Unfortunately, this amendment was stripped out during conference negotiations. YCT believes that to maximize campus free speech dialogue and discourse, regulations regarding speakers should be content-neutral.
