SB 29, Amendment 1: Poisoning the Taxpayer Funded Lobbying Ban Bill

YCT Nay. Amendment No.1, as amended, was an amendment intended on poisoning and minimizing the impact of SB 29. As amended, this amendment included provisions that would have exempted municipalities within a county with a population less than 250,000 from having to observe the ban on taxpayer lobbying. The amended version of this amendment was so bad that Representative Mayes Middleton, the original author of Amendment 1, requested that House Representatives vote no on this amendment. YCT opposed this amendment because it ensured that counties and cities would have a loophole towards continuing to fund partisan politics with taxpayer dollars.
