HB 347: Annexation Protection

YCT Yea. House Bill 347 grants annexation protection to all unincorporated property holders in Texas. Under House Bill 347, all citizens in Texas must have the choice of voting for or against an annexation proposal. Formerly, Texas had a tiered system in which only some citizens were protected from annexation. Citizens living in small counties did not have a way of consenting to an annexation proposal before it occurring. This legislation prevents this from happening again in the future. YCT Supports Legislation that requires Municipalities that would annex land to receive the consent of the affected residents prior to annexation.
