Passage; May 16, 2019; Journal Page 1997; 31 Yeas.
YCT Nay. YCT believes in strict due process rights for students at Texas Colleges and Universities. HB 1735 outlines a definition of sexual harassment and violence that is based only on the perception of an incident by a victim and not an objective set of criteria under which actions can be evaluated. Additionally, HB 1735 creates no stipulation that students’ have legal counsel as they navigate a process with long-term personal and professional consequences.
