Passage; April 3, 2019; Journal Page 718; 19 Yeas, 12 Nays.
YCT Yea. SB 17 prohibits a Texas occupational board from creating any rule that could limit a person’s ability to obtain a professional license based on the person’s religious belief. The bill also prohibits occupational regulations that would stifle an individual's right to exercise their religion, freedom of speech about their faith, or freedom of association based on membership of any religious organization. YCT supports any legislation that protects an individual's freedom of religion and speech and therefore supports this bill.
