The Senate’s version of SB 18 would have prohibited an institution of higher education from granting their employees tenure or any type of permanent employment status to employees with contracts made after the bill’s effective date. It would not have prohibited an alternative tiered employment system if each faculty member must undergo an annual performance evaluation.YCT favors reforming tenure practices so tenure is granted based on job performance.
