SB 2424 creates a new Class A misdemeanor for the improper entry of aliens into the state of Texas from a foreign nation. A person who is an alien commits an offense if they enter through a location other than a lawful point of entry, eludes inspection by US immigration officers, provides an intentionally false or misleading representation, or conceals material facts in order to enter the state of Texas.YCT favors increasing efforts to detain illegal immigrants within Texas’ borders.
