HB 27

HB 27 changes the curriculum requirements for the foundation high school program to require a 1/2 credit in personal financial literacy. However, it does this by switching Economics (with a focus on the benefits of a free market system) from being required to optional. This bill will likely mean that most Texans will graduate high school having never learned the basics of economics (supply and demand, the invisible hand, etc.). In a time when more young people are becoming socialists, this is the last thing we needed to do to our public school curriculum. 

YCT favors ensuring public school curriculum (and any other classroom activities) teach the principles espoused by the American founding documents, western civilization, and Christian values.
