YCT Nay. HB 1318 would have added presidential general election debates to the approved list of events which could receive Major Events Trust Fund appropriations. YCT does not support 'slush' funds and believes that the economy in Texas is strong enough to attract event venues on its own merit. Further, certain locations of the state should not benefit more than others simply based on the availability of the fund itself.
